How to Maintain Decks

Maintaining your deck is not too difficult and can be done on a regular basis with just a few tools.

A deck is a perfect addition to any home as it provides entertainment space and is a great place for relaxation. Maintaining decks not only helps in making them look good but also helps in keeping them safe.

- Wipe off the deck after every use with a damp cloth and then dry it thoroughly with a clean rag.

- Use mild soap and water to wash off any stains or dirt from the wood surface of your deck.

- Apply an oil finish on your deck once in every two years, to keep it looking shiny and new.

Deck maintenance is an important aspect of owning a deck. If you don't maintain your deck, the wood will rot, the nails will rust, and the surface could become slippery.

Some of the most important things that you should do to maintain your deck are:

- Cleaning: Sweep and vacuum the deck regularly, especially after a storm or heavy rain. Remove all leaves, pine needles and other debris from the surface of the deck.

- Sealing: Seal the wood every year with a water sealant, like Thompson's Water Seal. This will help protect it from weather damage and keep it looking good for many years to come.

- Staining: Stain your deck every 3-5 years to protect it against sun damage and make it look better than ever!
